Making learning fun with Jaques of London

I’m a huge advocate of making learning fun, especially at primary age. This seems to be particularly important in STEM subjects, which can for some children feel inaccessible.

One of my favourite toy brands is Jaques of London. They have a huge selection of toys and games, including educational choices.

Enjoy exploring maths

A great way to explore numbers and maths is playing games. What better than a physical game, which gives your brain and body a workout? Jaques sell a fantastic Quoits game; perfect for improving hand/eye coordination and encouraging fun with numbers.

Quoits is like a ring toss – you get the number of points that your rope ring lands on. To know your total, you need to add up all the points you have scored. So this is where the learning can be incorporated into the game.

The set is manufactured in a beautiful dark wood. It features a simple fit together system. The natural rope quoits are great quality, and will last so much longer than plastic options.

Making learning fun

Fishing games can be so much fun. The magnetic fishing game from Jaques is colourful, engaging and has an added educational element.

Each fish has a letter or a number on the back. You can use these is any way you like, and the set comes with some suggested games too. My daughter likes to use the letter she has ‘fished’ as a starting point for a word.

If she gets a number, she looks around the house for something that has that many. Sometimes she just likes to fish for fun too! So there are lots of ways to enjoy the game and learn.

About Jaques

Established in 1795, Jaques holds the title as the oldest toys and games manufacturer in the world. The family-run retailer has been passed down through eight generations. So they’re the perfect company to choose your toys and gifts from.

Jaques offer a wide range of toys, including indoor, outdoor, board games, and educational toys. So there’s something to suit all your needs.

I love Jaques. Their quality toys will no doubt be firm favourites in our house for many years to come.

I received a selection of gifted items for the purpose of this post. As always, the provision of gifted products does not affect my views which remain honest and reflect my own thoughts.
