What is Black Restaurant Week?

The tag on the Black Restaurant Week’s official site reads “More than just a week” and it couldn’t be more appropriate.  Black Restaurant Week was founded by Warren Luckett in 2016, and has since gone on to highlight and celebrate many of the African-American, African, and Caribbean flavors and cuisine all over the nation and beyond. Read on to find out more about how this business could potentially benefit your restaurant.

What Black Restaurant Week Does

Black Restaurant Week presents restaurant week campaigns in order to highlight Black-owned restaurants and culinary businesses.  There may even be a campaign near you that has weekly specials and much more.  Some of the areas and dates that Black Restaurant Week has covered include:

  • Northwest areas: February 25th-March 6th of 2022
  • Southwest areas: March 18th– 27th of 2022
  • Houston, Texas: April 1st– April 10th of 2022
  • Carolinas: April 22nd– May 1st of 2022
  • Bay Area, California: May 13th– May 22nd of 2022
  • Northeast areas: June 3rd-12th of 2022
  • New York: June 24th-July 3rd of 2022
  • Toronto: July 8th-July 17th of 2022
  • Greater Washington DC and Baltimore: July 18th-31st of 2022
  • Atlanta, Georgia: August 5th-14th of 2022

Dates coming up on the future will be:

  • Los Angeles, California: August 19th-28th of 2022
  • Midwest areas: September 2nd-11th of 2022
  • Southeast east areas: September 23rd-October 2nd of 2022
  • Gulf Coast: October 14th-23rd of 2022
  • Florida: November 11th-20th of 2022

There is still time if your restaurant is located in any of these areas to in order to take part.  All you have to do is register.  Black Restaurant Week has been featured on TV and the news and can gather up some great publicity for your restaurant.  You can register your restaurant in on their official website.

Who Can Register?

Registering with Black Restaurant Week is best suited for Black-owned restaurants or any of these other Black-owned establishments:

  • Food Trucks
  • Brick and Mortar Bakeries
  • Specialty Food Shops

Black owned restaurants provide some of the best food that you can get anywhere.  It is really great that something like Black Restaurants Week exists in order to make these establishments be better seen.  If you fit the criteria and want to be highlighted by Black Restaurants Week, get in touch with a member of their team today and register your restaurant.
