The Benefits of “The Arts” in Schools
It’s amazing how art is open to interpretation. It can mean anything to anyone and resonate with so many people. It’s a huge part of our culture and can teach us a lot about the past. Those that participate in the arts are also more likely to do well at school which makes it an important area for your child to focus on. They tend to demonstrate stronger verbal, reading, maths and critical thinking skills. We have teamed up with a performing arts school in London to share more on the benefits of “the arts” with you below.
Imagination
The arts are inspiring and can encourage children to think imaginatively as they explore the remarkable work created by others. What they have to work with is also open ended, giving them full control over what they can make.
Stress Relief
Art is expressive. Children can channel their feelings and use them to create something impactful. As they do, they can offload their stress and let go of how they feel. The reason why some with anxiety like to colour and create art.
Accomplishment
Art involves patient work. It can take time to perfect a painting or a skill but once that goal has been achieved, there’s a huge sense of accomplishment that comes with.
Self Esteem
With each strive that your child makes to improve on their skill, you will see how their confidence grows. They will learn to have faith in themselves and believe in their own ability.
Attention to Detail
Art makes us observant. All the small, minute details come together and form something on a grand scale. That means precision and practising attention to detail.
Problem Solving
As they try to perfect their work and find ways to improve, children can exercise their problem-solving skills and become better thinkers.
