How to Force Yourself to Relax
There is nothing truer than hearing the fact that life is pretty crazy these days. We’re all doing what we can to keep afloat in a cost of living crisis and that has led to most of us not remembering what it’s like to relax anymore.
You’re checking your email on your phone on your days off. You’re going to work earlier and finish later. You’re thinking work, work, work all around the clock. When do you relax? When do you take a moment to remember that you’re allowed to relax in the first place? You have to think about what relaxation means for you and what it means to take a moment, step back and just don’t think about work for a moment. But most of all, you have to figure out how to force yourself into it so that you can truly let go. With that in mind, here’s how to force yourself to do it
- Break a sweat. Sometimes, you need to move to relax. When you exercise, you don’t feel like you’re relaxing. But that after session glow is exactly what the doctor ordered. You can do anything you want to exercise, You’ll feel the difference after you’re done. That difference and those endorphins firing is going to make you feel more relaxed than anything else. You’ll also be able to sleep better, and that alone is going to mean a more relaxed version of yourself.
- Don’t bother with yoga. Relaxation isn’t always sitting and thinking for hours at a time. Yoga is considered an amazing mind and body workout, and everyone brags about their lowered stress levels. But if you hate yoga, you don’t have to do it. You don’t have to force yourself to go through the breathing exercises or if you find it too boring. If it’s not for you, don’t do it, so don’t bother with it.you’re going to force yourself to relax much easier by sitting down for 10 minutes a day than you are forcing yourself through a yoga session you’re going to hate every minute of.
- Let go of the coffee. It’s not coffee, but you do need to let go of how much of it you’re drinking.It’s delicious, and it gives you life when you’re struggling to open your eyes after a late night. But if you’re forcing yourself to relax, you need not feel the jitters that coffee can give you. Too much coffee can lead to anxiety, and watching your coffee intake isn’t always the easiest thing to do. You need to feel more relaxed, faster, not more jittery. Your wallet will love you if you stop drinking so much coffee because you’ll be paying out less for pricey drinks.
- Watch less TV. You don’t have to stop watching TV altogether, but you’re going to relax more if you’re not paying attention to bad news on the TV all the time. If there’s a lot of drama or horror out there that’s keeping you up at night, then it’s time to let that go.
