Beautiful wooden toys from Jaques of London

As someone who tries to make sustainable choices as much as I can, I really love wooden toys. They have much better longevity and are made with more ethical practices than plastic options. One toy manufacturer that really stands out for their vast array of wooden toys is Jaques of London.

Jaques of London

Established in 1795, Jaques holds the title as the oldest toys and games manufacturer in the world. The family-run retailer has been passed down through eight generations. It’s safe to say they know a huge deal about toys, what children love, and how to make games that last.

Jaques offer a wide range of toys, including indoor, outdoor, board games, and educational toys. While they offer a lot in the younger categories, there is certainly a great deal of choice for older children too.  

Beautiful wooden toys

Jaques have a huge selection of wooden toys, which is fantastic for those who feel the same as me, or want to get a beautiful gift. I was offered the chance to work with Jaques and I’m really excited to be showcasing some of their lovely range.

Before I review the toys, I want to pay tribute to the beautiful packaging. The toys arrive in a stunning printed cardboard box, wrapped in paper inside. A card tells you who has wrapped your order, which is a nice touch.

Wooden Car Park

The wooden car park garage is made of 100% FSC approved wood. So it’s got great green credentials. I love how strong and sturdy it is, with lots of bright and attractive colours. The paint is water-based so an extra safety feature.

The cars cleverly flip over to go from one ramp down to the next. My daughter loves it. She names all the cars and give them marks out of 10 for their descent! She has a road play mat so it a perfect addition for imaginative play.

I love that it arrives with only one piece to add onto it. I dread to think how many hours I’ve lost to putting toys with multiple parts (and poor instructions) together.

Wooden board games

Jaques has a fabulous range of wooden board games for the whole family. I chose the Shut the Box Game as it’s a great way to improve counting and maths skills.

It is a beautifully-made set and is a lot of fun to play.
