How To Parent With Christian Shows
Any parent will tell you how challenging it can be to guide children to the right path, especially amid the secular media influences. Luckily, there are family-friendly Christian programs that children can watch as a substitute.
The following tips can help you parent better using Christian shows.
Understand Your Child
Parents always know their children inside out, forming the basis for all their parenting skills. No two children are alike, meaning each parent raises their own differently. If you want to instill Christianity in them, it starts with knowing how much the media influences them.
You should know how aware they are of the outside world and how much the TV has exposed them. If they are easily influenced by the content they watch, it will be best to introduce them to Christian shows as early as possible.
Set Ground Rules
Parents today have TV and internet use rules due to the secular content available on various platforms. It is best to monitor what your child is exposed to and check its clean content without adverse worldly influences.
You can also push for more Christian shows and explain why they are essential, but still, you need to establish access rules. You can also set daily or weekly time limits and maintain that they should ask for permission before using any device.
Be Actively Involved
One mistake some parents make is to give their children the TV remote and other devices and let them access whatever they want. It may be peaceful for you when they are busy with other things, but it can be a heavy price to pay.
If your children love watching TV, you can restrict their access to Christian shows only and start it when they are young for them to adopt the culture even in their teens. You can also set up an internet filter and control apps to permanently restrict content access.
Open Communication Channels
While it is essential to lay down strict rules regarding what your children can access, you still need to keep the dialogue lines open. Children are sensitive and curious, always wanting to know why parents have set specific rules for them.
If you want to push for Christian shows, you can tell them why and encourage them to discuss what they learn. Communicating about such matters also enhances trust in the household.
Is Using Christian Shows The Best Way To Parent?
The TV can have negative or positive effects on children, and you can use this to your advantage as a parent. You can check that the content your child is exposed to is clean and use Christian shows to help instill a biblical foundation in your household.
