Strawberries and cream drink recipe and other romantic cocktails

For those of us who like a tipple I thought I would share a few ideas for a romantic cocktail. And whether you’re celebrating something with a loved one, friends, or having a date night, I have three delicious ideas including a decadent strawberries and cream drink.

You might also want to check out this recipe to make an amazing strawberry daiquiri.

Strawberries and cream drink

You will need:
  • 1 punnet of strawberries
  • 4 teaspoons of icing sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 1 serving of Baileys
What to do:
  1. If you can, make your vanilla sugar the night before. This will allow more time for the vanilla flavour to infuse through the sugar. It’s not too time consuming, simply mix the sugar and the seeds from a vanilla pod in an airtight container.
  2. Remove the stalks from the washed strawberries.
  3. Cut them in half and blend them into a puree with the four teaspoons of vanilla sugar.
  4. Fill two shot glasses half-full with strawberry puree.
  5. Pouring it over the back of a teaspoon, slowly pour the Baileys on top of the strawberry puree. It will sit on the top creating a layered drink.

Strawberry Sparkle

You will need:
  • 1 punnet of of strawberries
  • Vanilla sugar (as made per the recipe above)
  • 1 bottle soda water
  • 4 shots of vodka

What to do:

  1. Keeping one strawberry aside, remove the stalks from the washed strawberries.
  2. Cut them in half and blend them into a puree with the four teaspoons of vanilla sugar.
  3. Add eight teaspoons of the strawberry mixture into a short tumbler, or half the amount if you prefer to use a champagne flute.
  4. Add a double shot of vodka (single for a flute glass) and top up with soda water.
  5. Give the cocktail a good stir before slicing the remaining strawberry halfway up (leaving it joined together at the top) and popping it on the side of the glass.
