Mooze 12% a review and giveaway

I have cut down a lot on my alcohol intake since becoming a parent. Primarily because the hangovers are just too hard to handle when you have either a broken night’s sleep or an early start. Add to that, since giving birth it’s been harder to keep weight off, and I prefer food to booze, so one of them had to go!

That doesn’t mean I don’t still enjoy the odd tipple. But low alcohol is my go-to these days. Low or no generally means beers or cider, which I do enjoy, but I miss spirits too. I found a fab no alcohol spirit drink in Pentire; but what about a low-alcohol botanical drink? Say hello to Mooze 12%. A crisp botanical spirit that means you can have a drink, but with less units.

Moderate drinking

Mooze 12% was created in the first lockdown of 2020 by Mel Sims. Mel wanted to moderate her drinking, not cut it out completely. And this is true of many of us. We still enjoy the taste of alcohol, and the slight buzz it gives us. But we don’t want the empty calories, horrible hangover or sense of dread the next morning trying to remember what you said and did.

I love what Mooze, and Mel herself, are reinforcing. It is okay to want to drink alcohol (just as it is perfectly natural if you don’t want to). Whether you drink or not, the most important thing is having a healthy relationship with alcohol. And Mooze can help with that. Distilled in copper pots by International Award Winners in Essex; Mooze is not only about a quarter ABV of gin, it is sugar free, sweetener free and vegan. It has only 18 calories and 0.3 units per 25ml pour. Which is all super.

Six Botanicals

Mel sent me a sample of Mooze 12% and I have to say it is delicious. It contains 6 botanicals: Juniper, Cucumber, Orange Zest, Clementine Zest, Macadamia Nuts, Coriander. You can definitely taste the flavours in there. I tried a tiny sip before I mixed in my tonic just so I could fully appreciate them. And you really can; they’re fresh and vibrant.

You can buy Mooze 12% over on the Mooze website. It’s priced at £19.99 for 70cl. You can find them on social media using the handle moozebooze12.

I’ve also teamed up with Mooze 12% to offer one of my lucky readers the chance to win a 70cl bottle. Good luck!
