It’s been a busy few months as I’ve been trying lots of lovely new food and recipes, especially as my husband and I spent nearly three weeks travelling around America. I discovered so many new tastes, flavours and cuisines, which I’m very excited about sharing with you over the next few months. In the meantime, here are my top five news and views from May and June.
I spotted goose eggs at the Farm Shop & Deli Show earlier this year, and the lovely folks over at Blackacre Farms kindly sent me some to try. I boiled mine and had it with super chunky soldiers, and it was a true delicacy. Plus it was very filling – you can see the size compared to a hen’s egg in this pic. I boiled mine for around 9 minutes and it was cooked perfectly.
My dad clearly knows me very well as one of my birthday gifts was six bottles of wine which he had carefully selected for me from Sainsbury’s. They were a mix of red and white, and while white remains my firm favourite, I can be tempted by a glass of red if it is particularly smooth and not too oaky. All of the wine was delicious, if I was to recommend just one it would be Sainsbury’s Albarino Rias Baixas, which was crisp and light, so right up my street.

Again this is a tribute to my fab dad, who taught me the recipe for an unbelievably easy yet delicious starter with only three ingredients – asparagus, prosciutto and mozzarella. I will blog the recipe soon as you have to give it a go.
- Guest blogging is a recipe for fun and connecting with new bloggers
I’ve been blogging for around 18 months and have finally got my act together to connect with other bloggers and complete my first guest blog. Lovely chap Andrew over at Andrew in the Kitchen has been running a number of guests posts as part of his #fdbloggerfriends series. Not only was it great to take part, it’s been a super way to connect with Andrew and other bloggers, and find out more about fellow foodies.
I do love a good dollop of ketchup on my breakfast butties, although sometimes I find it a bit sweet. Brown sauce isn’t my cup of tea, so it was great to discover something new when I was sent a bottle of Breakfast Sauce from the Salubrious Sauce Co. It has the same consistency as ketchup but a much fuller flavour, combining spice and richness. Yum.
